This is the first F-Series pickup. Yes, the 1948 Ford F-1 was the vehicle that launched a legend. That's why this well restored and fanatically presented pickup deserves a prime spot in your garage.
You know you want this truck. It has those original good looks that can instantly transport you to another time. But just like your best memories, this one seems to have a little better presentation then they did back then. After all, the light tan paint has more depth than they could get in the '40s; the chrome bumpers have a brighter mirror-like shine; and even the real wood in the truck bed never looked this good from the factory. Plus, there's enough bright work to remind you that even trucks cared about style. We love all the original pieces like stainless strips running along the sides of the hood, and the sturdy horizontal bar grille that is still echoed in today's F-150. It's all finished off with two-piece bright wheel covers that frame the color-matched steelies and iconic whitewall tires.
Originally the cab was built for long-lasting function, and today that spirit remains with a few nice upgrades. For example, the bench seat has been upgraded with new upholstery that includes a comfortable cloth insert. Plus, it looks nice as the two-tone coordinates nicely with the tan paint on the dash and padding on the kick panels. There's plenty of dashboard space thanks to an uncluttered feel that only has to make room for the gauges. And as you can see, the original package has been expertly replaced with newer VDO units. So if you like to drive your classics, you know this is a handy upgrade. This Ford's blue-collar roots are immediately known when you grab three-spoke wheel and feel the groves of all the workers who relied on similar pickups for decades. There is no radio, but it will hardly be missed because this pickup will make you want to whistle a worker's tune on every road trip.
If you're not into making your own music, there's one other sound that never gets old. The 239 cubic-inch Ford flathead V8 gives off an industrial symphony of simplicity. The motor was completely rebuilt in 2000, and we have the invoice to prove it. Not only does it still look exceptionally fresh (just look at the decal on the oil bath air cleaner and the shine of the radiator,) but also you get the reliability of a classic pickup that idles smoothly and behaves like a true driver. The newer dual exhaust give this one a classic rhythmic beat that feels like being in charge of a mini locomotive as the tempo increases with the acceleration. The three-speed manual transmission shifts crisply and the brakes have been properly maintained. In the end, the full experience of being behind the wheel feels like a transporter taking you back to a simpler time.
Complete with build receipts and maintenance records, this first-ever F-Series Ford pickup delivers all the best of the era... and just like your best memories, it has deleted the bad parts. So don't miss out on the best vintage truck experience. Call now!
