The 2016 GT350R, like the original GT350R unleashed by Carroll Shelby onto the racing world in 1965, is a hardcore and limited production version of the base GT350. Ford produced 5,643 standard GT350 units for for the 2016 production year, compared to only 526 GT350Rs, making them an instant collectible with enthusiasts and collectors alike clamoring to get their hands on one. The 350R features the same 5.2-liter "Voodoo" flat-plane crank V8 from the GT350 producing 526 horsepower and 429 ft/lb of torque. Items such as air conditioning, stereo, trunk floorboard, rear seats, and the backup camera have been removed. The GT350R became the first production vehicle to feature carbon-fiber wheels that each weigh approximately 15 pounds less than the aluminum wheels on the standard GT350. Overall, the GT350R is 130 lb (59 kg) lighter than the GT350. A larger splitter and rear wing help improve downforce, with the wing drawing the car's weight balance more rearwards. A Torsen limited-slip differential with a 3:73 axle ratio helps improve handling further.
Chassis "GR355" has traveled only 235 since it was delivered new at Riverhead Ford Lincoln in Riverhead, NY. 1 of just 159 GT350Rs optioned in Shadow Black with only 103 of those units having the Black/Red stripe option. All featured the Ebony Recaro Cloth/Miko Suede with Red Accent Interior unique to the GT350R. Only 16 Shadow Black GT350Rs were built with the standard "920A" equipment group, making it even more rare.
Noting it's future collectability, all the original paperwork has been saved and catalogued, including original window sticker, sales invoice and paperwork, maintenance folio, bumper QC sticker, Ford FIA car cover order as well as the GT350 owner's kit and sales literature.
