If you're looking for a fast Mustang with a pedigree but aren't really keen on the mass-produced Shelbys Ford was cranking out, then this 2008 Ford Mustang Roush 427R should probably be on your list. Built by the biggest name in Ford performance, it's a take-no-prisoners pony that was the ultimate expression of Blue Oval performance in the early 2000s. And with just 18,498 original miles, you can bet it's still as nasty today as it was a decade ago.
Is there a better color for a high-performance Mustang than basic black? You could obviously get your 427R in just about any color Ford offered, but the original buyer of this car knew that there was no sense in pretending it was anything other than an apex predator. Roush added a deeper front air dam, a custom hood, blanked-out quarter windows, and a rear spoiler, all designed to help it go faster (the looking better was just a nice side-effect). White stripes leave no doubt about the car's intentions and they are joined by a more-subtle set of satin black stripes on the fenders that call out the 427R model. With so few miles, this one is still in fantastic condition and nobody bought these as a daily driver, so it has been expertly maintained since it was new. The paint is in good shape and if you were to give it a professional buff and wax, it would really look spectacular. There are a few scuffs on the lower front spoiler, which are all but inevitable, but for the most part, it's obvious that someone really loved this car.
The interior is largely factory Mustang stuff, although Roush additions make it a much better place to do some serious work. The seats are leather wrapped and very supportive, so the only change there was a Jack Roush signature on the seat back. The Mustang steering wheel has an airbag and a leather rim, so it was left as-is, but the dash was fitted with carbon-fiber appliques that really make a difference. White-faced gauges are unique to the Roush and are joined by a set of aftermarket dials on the A-pillar for monitoring the supercharged engine. Then there's the custom shifter for the 5-speed manual gearbox, the embroidered floor mats, and another Jack Roush signature on the passenger airbag cover. All the Mustang's luxury features remain intact, including cold A/C and power everything, and the trunk is fitted with one of Roush's absolutely gorgeous custom tool kits on the inside of the lid. Too cool!
By adding a compact "Roushcharger" supercharger to the factory 4.6 liter V8, the Mustang becomes an altogether different animal. With more than 400 horsepower on tap almost instantly, it's wickedly fast on the street and more than lives up to the image portrayed by its aggressive bodywork. Roush does a lot of Ford's development work, so you know the electronics are right and it starts, idles, and drives like a stocker, albeit one with a LOT more power. The 5-speed manual gearbox shifts crisply and there are 3.73 gears out back that make it feel punchy at any speed. Roush also upgraded the suspension with custom shocks, springs, and sway bars, and yes, those are giant Brembo brakes up front for massive stopping power. Polished Roush wheels are beautiful and simple and are fitted with 275/40/18 performance radials.
With low mileage and a great color combination, this is a Mustang that's ready to have fun without a second thought. If you like your Mustangs to have a little extra something, this Roush definitely delivers. Call now!
