1929 Erskine (Studebaker)

700R4 Automatic
350 V8

Just Toys Classic Cars is very proud to showcase this very rare 1929 Erskine. This car was named after the president of Studebaker at that time. This car only lasted for a four year production run and they only made 25,565 with only a little over 200 registered cars surviving like this one. This is an all original steel bodied car. When the owner got this car it still had the original 6 cylinder engine in it, the original transmission and even the original wood wheels.
To look at her now is a thing of absolute beauty. Let's start with the absolutely laser straight silver paint that you see on this car. Everything, and I mean everything that needed to get silver on this car got it. If you were to pull off a door panel or say remove the headliner, you are not going to see any other color but silver. This car was built to a very high standard like a rare car like this should. The bumpers and grill are all original to this car as well and were re chromed beautifully.
The roof has been chopped 5 inches and is all metal on top now. The sun visor on top of the windshield has been welded into the body and smoothed out to perfection. THIS IS NOT A BONDO QUEEN ladies and gentleman. Everything done on this car has been done right. The headlights as well as the cowl lights, as well as the tail lights are the original to the car. No cheap reproductions here folks. Everything safety works on this car including the Erskine third brake light mounted on the center of the rear hubcap.
This car sits on the original frame, but it has been boxed and re enforced very well as you will see in the under carriage photos. The independent front suspension is from Heights with power steering as well as front disc brakes. In the rear sits a Heights triangulated 4 bar suspension with a Ford 9" rear end housing 3.23 gears. The brakes in the rear are drums, and this 1936 Erskine rides on coil over shocks for the best ride that a hot rod can give you. The wheels are Wheel Vintique Artillery's with moon center caps.
Now, under the hood is a 350 crate motor that goes back to a 700R4 transmission. You know what that means, that you could literally dive this car anywhere you wanted and still get about 25 MPG. Nothing like being able to drive your street rod anywhere and not have to worry about passing everything but a gas station. You also never have to worry about this car over heating with a brand new aluminum radiator in it. You will also get a great but not head pounding rumble from the ceramic coated headers leading out to dynomax mufflers.
Now as you grab the beautiful chrome door handle you are first going to notice the banjo style side mirrors and as you slide into this gorgeous silver vinyl interior you will see matching banjo style door handles, steering wheel, and even the rear view mirror arm is done in a banjo style. This just ties everything together. This car has ICE COLD A/C, but if you have it out on not such of a hot day feel free to roll down all 4 power windows and cruise with the breeze in your hair. You wont be able to miss the beautiful antique looking Dolphin gauges on the dash and yes that odometer is correct. This car has only had 58 miles put on it since it was finished. Just set the radio to your favorite tunes, or plug in your MP3 player and start cruisn'.
Folks, this is one of the best looking 1929 Erskine's that we have ever seen. The owner did everything correct but not taking the temptation to go with over the top flames and so on. If that's your thing we understand, but this car is just clean and classy from any angle that you look at it. Just get in and adjust the tilt wheel to your liking, give that key a crank and off you g
