Maserati Ghiblis show up less frequently than many other classics, but that's because there are not many of them and owners are often reluctant to let them go. The Ghibli with its 4-cam V-8 engine, quartet of downdraft Weber carburetors, superb suspension, powerful brakes and sublime Giugiaro-designed, Bertone-built coachwork is one of the greatest Italian GTs.

#472 is a great example of Maserati's famed GT Coupe, completed in June of 1968 by Officine A. Maserati S.p.A., wearing Celeste Chiaro (light blue) paint over Black Connoly leather, with comforts worthy of such a thoroughbred GT: 5-speed manual, electric windows, reclining seats, heated rear windscreen, Becker Europa radio and air conditioning. Long excursions are intended to be comfortable thanks to power steering and plenty of power on reserve from the 4.7 liter V8 motor. Maserati S.p.A. of Modena confirms with original Certificate of Origin that all chassis, engine and body numbers are matching as it left the factory. Additional Classiche documents include: Final Tests data Sheet, Technical & Aesthetic Characteristics, Technical Data Sheet, Internal Factory Order and Delivery Note.

Being an "early Ghibli", the car features more desired aesthetics, such as a sleeker small hubbed steering wheel, more reliable Lucas signal stalk and toggle switches instead of rockers. This U.S. spec coupe makes for an exceptionally solid base to enjoy in original form. The car shows well as an honest driver with plenty of opportunity for use as-is, displaying a nice older repaint, while retaining original trim, Securit glass, identification plaques, motor and drivetrain. This particular car, thanks to its charming good looks and previous caretaker, was published in several multi-page magazine articles, such as Car and Driver, Il Tridente and Motor Trend Classic - all included with sale.

Designed to compete with the Ferrari Daytona and Lamborghini Muira, the Ghibli is among the elite in the vintage supercar market and tremendously underpriced in comparison. This particular GT is sure to satisfy the true driver-collector connoisseur. Representing incredible value, we strongly recommend serious attention from collectors and enthusiast alike.
