1968 AMC AMX for Sale. Built in Kenosha, Wisconsin. This two seater "Pony Car" from AMC took the public by surprise! Powered by a 390 Cu In V8 mated to an automatic transmission and equipped with both power steering and power disc brakes making this car the formidable against Camaros, Mustangs, and Darts cruising the streets! Light and quick with a good weight to power ratio that startled even some of the Muscle Cars of the day including GTO's, Chevelle's, and Fairlane GT's. These cars quickly became recognized at a distance with their "Skunk Stripe" running down the center of the car. The interior of this AMX has red bucket seat interior with a "Shift Command" and a console. Rather than a more traditional cloth or vinyl headliner, AMC installed a slightly ribbed one piece fiberboard. No rear seats. This area was simply carpeted to match the floor's carpet. The interior is accented with wood grain door panels and steering wheel. Many considered this car as a vehicle to compete against Chevrolet's Corvette in attracting the buyer looking for a two seater sports car. The car rolls on a set of stock steel wheels with full hub caps carrying Cooper Cobra raised white letter radials in 215/70R 14's. Exceptional throughout!
Photographs of the restoration will come with the car along with an owner's manual, copy of the build order, and the short form original Bill of Lading showing original cost of the car in 1968 at $3,807.25.
