GR Auto Gallery is pleased to offer this 1981 Mercedes-Benz 300GD to the American market for the first time. The diesel variant of the G-Wagon, such as the one offered here, is powered by a 3.0L inline-6 cylinder diesel engine. Even though these trucks are not high-powered, the joy of driving one of these with a 4-speed manual transmission more than makes up for it. These diesel G-Wagons were originally produced for municipal and military purposes ensuring the drivetrain was built for long term use.
Externally the truck is finished in a green paint that is in spectacular condition. Unline many G-Wagons, this one appears to have been cared for extremely well its whole life. Other exterior features include a rear-mounted spare tire, black and rubber trim, and mudflaps. The example offered here is the long-wheelbase variant of the 300GD which means this truck has four doors and can fit 5 people comfortably.
Once inside, occupants are greeted with unique plaid cloth seats. Internally the car is just as clean as the exterior if not cleaner. Mounted on the center stack are the buttons controlling the front, center, and rear locking differentials that allow this G-Wagon to have uncomparable off-road capabilities. While it doesn't appear this example has spent time off-road, if the next owner desires, this truck could make an insane off-roader.
Not many legally imported Mercedes-Benz 300GDs are offered to the American market in this good of condition. Both the exterior and interior are exceptionally clean, and all mechanicals are in strong working order. There is no other feeling quite like driving a diesel-powered classic G-Wagon with a manual transmission. Please call or email today with any questions or for additional information.
