HIGHLIGHTS: Unrestored classic Camaro for the budget-concious buyer! Believed to be two owners since new, with one repaint and the original interior. A real survivor! 327 V8, 4-speed manual convertible with a power top! According to the trim tag, this is a factory 327, 4-speed, power top, bucket seat, center-console equipped car.
BODY OVERVIEW: The body is clean and straight, with all of the proper emblems and trim still in place and in good original condition. This is a car that has never seen a full restoration, and has held up remarkably well over the years!
This is a car that has been the dream of car enthusiasts everywhere for decades! It is very rare to find a first-generation Camaro that hasn't been restored yet, and this car is one of those rare examples. The current wheels are the only known modification, and they are Oldsmobile wheels. The original steel wheels and wheel covers are included with the sale. Considering it is a vehicle that has simply been maintained over the years, the body is in truly remarkable condition.
PAINT CONDITION OVERVIEW: Originally finished in the then-popular fawn paint color, it was purportedly repainted by the original owner within the first few years after purchase because she simply didn't like the original Sierra Fawn color and much preferred yellow. This information was given by the original owner when the current owner purchased the car well over 25 years ago.
Given the age of the paint job, it could be considered to be in good condition. While it isn't peeling and has some gloss left, there are some wear marks here and there that can be expected on a 40ish year old paint job. A good buffing may go a long way on this car, if you prefer to keep the “survivor” look.
INTERIOR CONDITION OVERVIEW: The black vinyl interior is said to be original, and if so it has been very well maintained. While like the rest of the car, it is indeed showing some age, there are no pronounced damage areas on the seats and wear is extremely minimal when taking the age of the vehicle and the lack of restoration into account. For the discerning buyer looking to enjoy a turn-key driver classic as-is, this interior is perfect.
MECHANICAL OVERVIEW: Under the hood sits a 327 Chevrolet V8, which is of course hooked up to a 4-speed manual transmission. This car is a dream to drive, and really captures the spirit of the original Camaro.
Just like the rest of the car, the engine and transmission have not been recently rebuilt and should be considered to be in maintained original condition. This Camaro fires up without issue, and shifts just as smooth as can be.
WHAT YOU'LL LOVE ABOUT THIS CAR: The overall originality, and the low number of owners. This is a car that hasn't been fooled around with too much! Plus, it is dialed in tight and drives great. Truly, it is a pleasure to drive!
WHAT YOU MIGHT NOT LOVE ABOUT THIS CAR: If minor paint defects and other small signs of age and wear bother you, this is not the Camaro you are looking for.
DOES IT NEED ANYTHING? Don't let the lack of restoration fool you; every single item on our checklist is functional on this car except the oil pressure gauge. Not too shabby for a 52-year-old car!
WHAT BUYER IS LOOKING FOR THIS CAR? The buyer for this Camaro is someone looking for a good, honest classic car that hasn't been taken apart and put back together half a dozen times over the years. Whether you're shopping for a turn-key weekend cruiser, or the perfect restoration candidate, this Camaro would be a great choice!
