The Road Runner was the fun, youth oriented version of Mopar's ever-popular B-Body. It was not common to find a convertible, or one that was well optioned as this one. It is equipped with its original 383 cubic inch 4bbl engine, 727 Torqueflite Transmission, and Extra Heavy-Duty Handling Package. Creature comforts like Light Package, Power Front Disc Brakes, Tinted Windshield, Undercoating and Hood Insulator Pad, and larger F60x15 wheel and tire package. The Light Package includes fender mounted turn signals, trunk light, glove box light, ash tray light, and time delay ignition light. The color Combo is a striking one, F8 Green with white interior.
The car also came factory equipped with a black convertible power top and a black transverse stripe. When the car was restored, the new owner substituted the black stripe in favor of the iconic Road Runner “Dust Trail”. We would have done the same. The only other deviation from factory is the inclusion of the N96 “Air Grabber” hood. Again, who can blame him? We love it to!
The original owner bought this one new during a year end clearance sale in November of 1970. He drove the car until 1981, clocking 48,000 miles on the odometer, but never during Winter- not even when new. He kept the car largely original and even kept a logbook fuel fill-ups and oil changes. It shows only 64, 795 miles today and freshly restored in 2019.
The car has extensive owner history, going back to new. In addition to being 100% original drivetrain, it also wears all its original sheet metal. Documentation includes the original window sticker, original warranty card, and broadcast sheet. When it comes to buying something that is fun, road ready, well restored, and collector quality, it really doesn't get any better than this.
