Not only is the engine impressive, but the whole car was built to handle the power. The transmission is a 700R4 four-speed automatic built by Phoenix Transmissions and includes a separate cooler. So it's both stout enough for performance driving and nice for overdrive cruising. This feeds a 9-inch Ford rear with Truetrac limited-slip and versatile 3.70 gears.
