Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1983 Lotus Turbo Esprit. This Esprit is one of 343 examples produced for the 1983 model year. When new, it cost nearly $50,000 and could sprint to 60 MPH in 6.4 seconds -- pretty outrageous numbers during the malaise days of the late 1970s and early 1980s.
Powered by a twin-cam, 2.2-liter turbocharged aluminum 4-cylinder fed by twin Dellorto carburetors and mated to a five-speed transaxle. Long-term ownership history with extensive records including a documented engine rebuild and many "fixes" and upgrades along the way.
It has been in our personal collection for two years and has benefited from major servicing and some cosmetic refurbishment during that time to include: timing belt, carb rebuild, steering rack, complete ignition system overhaul with MSD, fuel tanks cleaned and lined (a huge job), A/C upgrade and service, refinished BBS wheels with new tires, clutch hydraulics, all fluids, repainted from the side molding up (original paint and graphics on the lower half of the car) and more.
A strong runner with good compression numbers. Cold A/C. The Giugiaro bodywork turns heads wherever we go -- ready for a spirited drive or cars and coffee. For more information about this 1983 Lotus Turbo Esprit for sale at Motorcar Studio in Atlanta, please call 404-692-5250.
