Like Jaguar's iconic E-type, The 230SL was a classic the instant it rolled off the line in Stuttgart. And also like the Jaguar, it's still considered one of the best looking sports cars ever built.
Just five owners from new, it was initially sold in San Diego to a father who willed it to his son on his passing. In 1979 he sold it to its third owner, a local Mercedes-Benz Club officer, who embarked on a comprehensive restoration bringing it up to show levels. Ten years later, this same owner stripped and re-trimmed the interior, always keeping it covered and garaged until he sold it in 2002 after moving to Seattle. The car was sold a couple times through a well known Northwest classic car dealer and eventually found its way to Arizona in the hands of its current, and fifth, owner.
There are many service receipts going back to 2003. The car runs and drives exactly as it should and there is no evidence of rust or previous damage. The odometer shows just over 40,000 miles and is believed to have rolled over once. An original parts book and owner's manual accompany the car along w/its pagoda hardtop, a vintage 230SL ad, a short history written by the 3rd owner and extra keys.
This is a rare opportunity to add a well-cared for Pagoda SL to your collection, don't miss it.
