Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1966 Mercedes-Benz W113 230SL "Pagoda." This 230SL has been under the same ownership in Atlanta since 1985, during which time it has been driven approximately 15,000 miles. Currently showing 5,500 miles, we believe the actual mileage to be 105,500. This example is finished in attractive white (paint code 050 G) over black with matching white hardtop; it shows as a mostly unrestored driver with a recent interior refresh and lots of recent service.
A major service in 2016 at Bud's Benz included new upholstery and seat pads, square weave carpet and new convertible top along with a huge list of mechanical work -- tune up, valve adjustment, intake, cooling and fuel hoses, throttle linkage setup, belts, radiator recore, subframe mounts, steering box and pump, full front-end rebuild, alternator, water pump, body seals and rubbers, window felts and more. This work totaled nearly $20,000. Additional extensive service records date to 1988 and include a transmission and torque converter overhaul 6,000 miles ago.
We believe this car had a repaint in the correct color at some point prior to 1985, but it was done to a good standard and retains a nice luster (and its headlight notches). The finish does have a few flaws and dings as expected given its age. Underneath, the body remains in good original condition with the only rust noted being two small spots in the front floor pans. The Kuhlmeister air conditioning system is intact but not currently working; records indicate that it was functional in the not-too-distant past.
This Pagoda runs and drives well (as it should given all of the recent work) and starts easily. It is a lovely car to enjoy as-is at an approachable price-point, or could easily be taken to the next level with some detailing and finishing touches.
