The first generation of the Chevrolet Chevelle (1964-1967) created several iconic American muscle cars. Almost every year of the first generation is sought after, especially the 1966s and 1967s. While these two model years closely resemble each other, there are a few styling differences that tend to push enthusiasts one way or the other. Whether you prefer the 1966, or the 1967, there's no arguing the beauty of this 1967 Chevelle Malibu!
This car is one that makes it quickly apparent that the build quality is there. This is no half-finished, loosely slapped together backyard restoration! While it may not be a Concours-level restoration, one look at the fit and finish shows that it was put together with lots of attention to detail. The exterior is clean and straight with no major imperfections. The paint closely resembles the 1967 Chevrolet color “Marina Blue,” but is in fact a newer GM color from the early 2000s. This color is both unique and flattering on this Chevelle, without being “too blue.” A show stopper for sure, this Chevelle has the trophies to back it up.
The interior has been restored as original, with a modern cassette AM/FM radio that fits right in place of the original stereo. This unit is even controlled using the original style knobs! The seats and other soft parts are in excellent condition, reflecting care and maintenance. Aside from the radio, the only modification to the interior is a set of Pioneer speakers in the package tray. One admirable feature is that all of the Malibu appointments have been retained, such as the “woodgrain” dash insert, rather than being replaced with reproduction SS items. Additionally, everything inside the car functions as it should.
Under the hood is a Chevrolet 350 V8. While it isn't the original engine, it certainly looks at home! It has been dressed up with some tasteful chrome pieces but otherwise looks just like an original engine. You'll notice a Frigidaire A/C compressor; that's not just for decoration! This car has functional A/C, making it an ideal summer cruiser. The 350 provides plenty of power for a car this size, and the throttle response on this vehicle is pleasing to say the least. The engine runs great, and this car drives just the way it should. When behind the wheel, it is very apparent that everything has been dialed in perfectly.
If you're looking for a head-turner that'll stand out in a crowd, this is the car for you. It is a high-quality vehicle that has been repaired, tuned, and maintained the way it should have been. This is a turn-key cruiser, ready to hit the street tomorrow! If SS clones aren't your thing, take the time to check out this Malibu that was kept a Malibu.
