The Mercedes-Benz SLS was unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show. It was intended to be the spiritual successor to the famed Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing of the 1950's. The most prominent feature of the new car is the roof-hinged doors that are reminiscent of those on the original Gullwing. The SLS also has the distinction of being the first car to be completely designed and built by Mercedes Benz's in-house tuning arm, AMG with a little help from former Mercedes F1 driver David Coulthard.
Performance is astonishing. The 6.2 Liter dual-overhead cam V8 produces a whopping 563 HP. It was the most powerful normally aspirated engine ever produced at the time and may still be. The SLS features dry sump lubrication, a 7 speed pedal shift transaxle and a carbon fiber driveshaft along with a magician's bag of other tricks. The combination made the SLS faster around the track than its supercar predecessor, the Mercedes McLaren SLR.
This particular SLS is finished in a classic Mercedes-Benz combination of Silver with a Red leather interior. It has a mere 3,739 miles and comes freshly serviced. It's an excellent example that is ready to be enjoyed.
The modern icon SLS is currently selling for nearly its original sticker price. We think it will definitely be more in the future.
