A revised XJ6 was introduced in 1979 and was christened the Series III. The styling was updated by Pininfarina and feature a number of modest styling changes. A Vanden Plas model was reintroduced for the US market as the top end luxury trim. A DOHC 4.2L I6 or SOHC 5.3L V12s were the available engine choices.
