Corvette

The 1982 Corvette marked the last year for the third generation ‘Vettes known as “Sharks.” The new year introduced a fuel-injected engine for the first time in 17 years, and no manual transmissions were available. A new automatic transmission was installed that had locking in all but first gear, and a new solenoid operated a small flap in the hood allowing fresh air into the engine during full-throttle acceleration.

There was a Collector Edition this year in which 6,759 were produced. It featured rear glass that could open to allow access to the storage area and had unique bronze solar screened t-tops. Also, the crossed-flag emblem read “Collector Edition” around the edge.
